Acton Coachworks announces sponsorship of Ducati rider
Acton Coachworks are delighted to announce sponsorship of Team ClearCom rider, Dean Bowling in his attempt to ride his Ducati to victory in the 2008 Bmcrc/MRO clubman’s championship.

Where Team ClearCom race

At present we race in the Bmcrc/MRO clubman’s championship in a class known as power bike this is open to all bikes up to 1300cc and you are allowed to carry out any modification you see fit. This championship is a stepping stone to the British championship and is said to be the hardest championship to compete in world over.

About Team ClearCom

Was formed for the beginning of the 2007 bike season and was a joint venture between Rider Dean Bowling and Clearcom Digital Ltd. There is also a mechanic to assist in the running and setting up of the bike.

The Bikes

Main Race Bike 2007 season

This was purchased as a road legal Ducati 1098s and quickly stripped of all the road ancillaries to make it as light weight as possible, It was then sent to the very able workshop of Sigma performance  where they stripped the bike and  engine and modified the engine to make it race ready. Then was added a Termignoni exhaust and super stock ECU. Together with a sigma performance slipper clutch. New Ducati performance rear shock was also fitted and the fork internals where modified to suit the rear shock. To complete the transformation to a race bike, race bodywork was also fitted.

Main Race bike 2008 season

Over the winter the bike was sent to the world renown JHP (John Hacket Performance) to have the engine fully rebuilt to a high state of tune, using pistol race pistons, JHP gas flowed heads, lightened crank and flywheel , titanium conrods  , this was done to achieve an almost level playing field with the jap bikes. The new nemesis programmable race ECU was fitted and JHP engine maps programmed into it. Due to the increase in BHP a replacement exhaust system was used in the form of the akrapovic race system. New up rated and adjustable front brake master cylinder and brake lines were also fitted and race pads installed. To help in the ever competitive racing world renthal quick change sprocket carrier and sprockets where fitted. New lightweight front and rear sub frames where also fitted. The new body work is Ducati factory race body work with increased size air intake tubes, yet again more carbon fibre to help lighten the bike. Also added was the new TTX rear shock as used by the works Ducati teams and lastly (for now) a set of PVM lightweight 16.5” rims where fitted to take the new Dunlop N tech tyres. Total cost so far £ 50,000

Spare bike

This is a Ducati 999 which has been race tuned and whilst is under powered in the main is a perfectly capable machine on smaller tracks and in the wet conditions. Cost £ 25,000

Acton Coachworks would like to wish Dean and Team ClearCom every success for the 2008 season.

Race Report - Criox - 14th/15th June 2008

Team Clearcom raced at Criox last weekend and had a mixed event on Saturday. They finished 7th so a good solid placing. On Sunday it decided to rain heavly in race 1. Whilst leading, Dean high sided coming out of the final turn onto the start finish line so they had a bit of work to do fixing the bike ready for race two.

Due to a DNF in race one, Dean started in last position on the grid (16th). By the first corner he was 4th and by turn 3 he was second. Not having learnt there was a slippery patch on the exit to the front straight, he yet again high sided but with a much better show of his flying abillity (you have to laugh or you'd cry when you see a £45k plus ducati cartweeling down the track).

So a bit of a disaster on Sunday. But the bike is repaired and ready for the next round at Cadwell Park at the end of the month. Fingers crossed for a better weekend !!

Philip - Team Clearcom
